Dutch, Linda Dekkers-De Oude, arrived in Dubai just over a year ago, via living with her young family in Manhattan, New York. Professionally, Linda's background is in beauty PR and marketing and in New York she worked for brands including L'Oreal and Balmain hair. Arriving in another new country, with two small sons, she initially opted to stay at home full-time to look after Jack (3) and Sam (2).

Like many stay-at-homes mums she's recently decided to channel her passion, strengthened by her professional skill set, in to a new part-time career. Dubai is such a fertile place for such backroom entrepreneurialism! When married with talent, real burning passion will always drive success in the UAE.
Linda, partnered with her NBF, Marie (whom I will photograph next week), run an interior design and store business. Their aesthetic is a fun, but very clean and chic, Scandi meets Manhattan loft cool (of course). They're selling product (UAE-made teepees and soft furnishing nick-naks) at their Ripe market stall and are working together on a number of high end family home design projects. Their following is growing organically, but rapidly. They are becoming a go-to stylist team for childrens lifestyle brands.
Linda never stops smiling and is sweetness personified. She's tanned and rosy cheeked and looks like a cross between Claudia Schiffer and one of the Von-Trapp daugthers from The Sound of Music. She's one tall glass of milk and cookies and you couldn't not like her. Her passion for design is infectious and very cerebral... she talked interestingly about 'why' people make the styling choices they do and the effects (her Liveloud partner is a child phycologist by trade, which adds a valuable angle to their work).
Here's a little of her home. There was so much to share, but I imagine she's going to be welcoming lots of UAE media photographers very soon, so fear not, they'll be more to see soon. Look out for their work - or indeed, get them round for some advice, they couldn't be nicer or more talented in creating beautiful, cosy family spaces.
